FAQ

What is Digital Crowbar?

  • Digital Crowbar is a tool for hiding data transfers inside other internet protocols.  While many people are familiar with using SSH tunnels over various ports, this gives the added security of hiding the data inside more inconspicuous protocols as seemingly meaningless data.

What Protocols are currently supported?

  • The Project has not produced any finished work yet, therefore none, the first protocol will likely be over ICMP.

Why Use Digital Crowbar?

  • Digital Crowbar is designed to break most current deep inspection firewall filters that might otherwise stop a simple SSH tunnel.  Because the data is hidden in otherwise legitimate traffic, most firewalls and IDS systems won't notice anything out of the ordinary.
